A suspected poacher was injured in police firing when he was trying to flee police custody in Assam’s Biswanath district.
A suspected poacher was injured in police firing in Assam’s Biswanath district when he was trying to flee police custody.
The injured suspected poacher has been identified as Dilwar Hussain. He was nabbed by the police on Saturday from Jonai in Dhemaji district for his alleged involvement in a rhino poaching incident in the Kaziranga National Park.
A police official said that when Hussain guided the police to find his accomplices who were also involved in poaching, he tried to flee police custody.
“The police team first warned him to stop, but he didn’t respond. Then they fired at his leg. Later, he was admitted to a hospital,” the police official said.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
