Stephen Colbert Torches Hakeem Jeffries For Not-So-Bold SOTU Strategy

The "Late Show" host mocked the House minority leader over an unusual approach during the speech.
“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert called out House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) for advice he gave members of his caucus on how to handle President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday.
Dozens of Democratic lawmakers skipped the address entirely in protest of the president and his agenda.
But as Colbert noted, Jeffries told those who did attend not to make a scene during Trump’s speech.
“An approach he dubbed silent defiance,” Colbert said. “Which I believe is a bold rebrand of doing jack squat. As Martin Luther King once said, ‘Shhh.’”
But not everyone got the message ― or, if they did, they didn’t abide.
