Stalls set up by women SHGs receive good reception

Traditional products showcased by self help groups in Dindigul, promoting local artisans and empowering women entrepreneurs.
Saris of Chinnalapatti, herbal products, millets, handicrafts and traditional products were on display at M.V. Muthiah Government Arts College for Women in Dindigul on Wednesday.
The stalls were set up by 30 self help groups, 20 from Dindigul district and 10 from nearby districts. The objective of the event was to showcase the traditional products and provide a platform for the self help groups to market the products. The event received a good reception from the public who thronged the venue in large numbers.
According to a press release, in the last three years, 438 women self help groups have sold products worth ₹28.02 lakh. There are a total of 13,880 self help groups in Dindigul district of which 9,688 were in rural areas and 4,192 in urban areas. There were around 1.55 lakh women women self-help group members in the district.
