M.K. Stalin presents a 14-point blueprint for Tamil Nadu’s development vision by 2030, focusing on economic growth and welfare.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday outlined a 14-point, sector-wise blueprint for his government’s vision of “Tamil Nadu 2030”, based on the feedback received from 1.81 crore families in the State under the “Unga Kanava Sollunga” (Share your dreams) household survey.
Speaking at an event titled “Tamil Nadu 2030 - Kanavugal Meipadum” (Dreams will come true) in Chennai, Mr. Stalin said villages will be transformed into centres of economic growth. A new scheme will be implemented to provide urban amenities in rural areas based on the vision of former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. “At a time when Gandhi’s name is being erased,” the scheme will be named “Uttamar Gandhi Model Villages project,” beginning with 10 village panchayats immediately, he said.
The Chief Minister said five lakh houses will be constructed in rural areas under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme, and two lakh houses will be constructed in urban areas. Steps will be taken to ensure medical insurance for all. Special camps will be organised for the early detection of cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. The objective of the State is to secure the top rank in India in reducing the Maternal Mortality Rate and Infant Mortality Rate. Mental health counselling centres will be established in every district.
Besides, the net sown area will be increased to 50 lakh hectares, while soil health cards will be distributed to 43 lakh farmers. Steps will be taken to expand natural farming on 17,000 hectares and organic farming on one lakh hectares. Micro-irrigation facilities will be expanded to 21 lakh hectares. Rainwater harvesting structures will be constructed in the Western and Eastern Ghats. Measures will be taken to improve water management and increase food production to 125 lakh metric tonnes.
Mr. Stalin said steps will be taken to ensure there are no dropouts, and all government and aided schools will be equipped with 100% smart classrooms. Under Library 5.0, more than 300 libraries will be established, and 1,000 model schools will be developed. The second phase of Naan Mudhalvan 2.0 will be rolled out to facilitate students receiving advanced skill training to compete globally.
Institutional measures will be taken to ensure the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education reaches 90%. Research laboratories and Centres of Excellence will be established, while Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be integrated into education, with every educational institution equipped with AI labs. Measures will be taken to implement a flexible curriculum for sportspersons, through which they will get academic credits, he said.
