Motorists in Kochi faced discomfort as chilli powder swept into their eyes on the national highway at Pathadipalam.
Motorists, especially those on two-wheelers, passing through the national highway at Pathadipalam, near Kalamassery, in Kochi, Kerala, reportedly had a harrowing time after chilli powder was swept into the eyes, putting them to much discomfort on Thursday (February 27, 2025) morning.
The incident occurred near Kochi Metro pillar 333. Reportedly, two packets of chili powder, which had presumably fallen off a moving vehicle burst on the road. Neither the packets nor the vehicle concerned could be traced.
Wind and moving vehicles swept the chilli powder into the eyes of motorists passing by. Many of them had to stop their vehicles and wash their eyes before continuing their ride.
The police reached the spot after being alerted by the public. The police in turn alerted the Eloor Fire and Rescue Services station.
“We cleaned up the road using water jets. There were no accidents or traffic hold-ups owing to the incident,” said the Fire and Rescue Services personnel.
