
SP leader Azam Khan released from Sitapur jail

SP leader Azam Khan was released from Sitapur jail after 27 months on Friday.
Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was released from jail on Friday, May 20 after 27 months. Azam Khan reached the residence of ex-MLA Anoop Gupta after he was released from the jail.
He was issued interim bail by the Supreme Court, after which the Rampur court issued the order for his release.

The release order was sent to Sitapur Jail on Thursday night.
Azam Khan's son Abdullah Azam, along with Shivpal Yadav and SP MLA from Saharanpur Dehat, Ashu Malik reached Sitapur jail to receive the SP leader.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
