Sony has launched the WF-1000XM6 flagship earphones. The WF-1000XM6 brings improved active noise cancellation (ANC) and a relatively compact chassis. There are some quality-of-life improvements too such as the added support for Google Gemini AI. In the US, the WF-1000XM6 is priced at $329.99, which translates to approximately Rs 29,903. There is no word on if and when Sony will launch it in India.
The WF-1000XM6 offers advanced noise-cancelling technology and is seemingly designed to focus on your music in any environment, according to Sony. The earbuds are powered by a dual-processor system: the QN3e for enhanced DAC amplifier performance and an Integrated Processor V2 that supports 32-bit processing, up from 24-bit in the previous model.
The WF-1000XM6 has two microphones with a bone conduction sensor on each side for picking up voice more effectively. These sensors are designed to capture the user's voice with precision, even in noisy environments. How? A bone conduction sensor detects vibrations from the skull and jawbone as the user speaks. Sony says it designed the earbuds to follow the natural contours of the inner ear, making them 11 per cent slimmer than the previous model.
The earbuds support Hi-Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Extreme, 360 Reality Audio, and a customisable 10-band EQ available through the Sony Sound Connect app. Additional features include head tracking and background music effects.
Sony promises up to 25 per cent improved active noise cancellation compared to the WF-1000XM5, particularly in the mid-to-high frequency range.
The new earphones retain many features of the WF-1000XM5, including Auto Play, Quick Access, and Adaptive Sound Control. But this generation adds one notable trick which is Gemini integration, offering hands-free voice assistance and Gemini Live support for natural, conversational AI interactions.

Reddit is exploring biometric verification methods such as Face ID and Touch ID to ensure users are real humans, not bots, while pledging to maintain the platform's tradition of anonymity. CEO Steve Huffman said the company is planning to address the rising influence of AI-generated content and protect authentic user engagement.
