Smart water management system launched in Erode enhances drinking water quality and efficiency with IoT technology at 16 tanks.
A smart drinking water management system integrated with IoT technology and automatic chlorination was commissioned at 16 overhead water storage tanks in Punjai Palatholuvu panchayat under the Chennimalai Union in Erode recently.
The initiative was implemented with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support from Severn Glocon Valves under the AquaMAP programme of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. The system was deployed and integrated by Real Tech GPS Private Limited.
The newly installed system facilitates real-time monitoring of water levels and water quality, automated pump operations and precise chlorine dosing. Officials said the project aims to ensure a safe, reliable, and sustainable drinking water supply while enhancing efficiency and transparency in rural water management.
The project was formally handed over to the panchayat administration and the public following the inauguration of a 30,000-litre overhead tank at Olapalayam. The total cost of the project was ₹45 lakh.
Mahendran Selvaraj, senior vice-president of Severn Glocon Valves, Ligi Philip, Principal Investigator of AquaMAP, T. Kumar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Real Tech GPS Private Limited, ocal residents and representatives of the implementing agencies participated in the event.
