The state government has decided to close all educational institutions till May 31 amid rising Covid-19 cases.
Amid rising Covid-19 cases in the state, the Sikkim government has decided to close down all educational institutions, keeping in mind the safety of the students. As per the notification by the Education department, all educational institutions will remain shut till May 31, 2021. Earlier, the state government had ordered the closure of all educational institutions till April 30, 2021. And now, the date has been extended till May 31, 2021. Further, as per reports, 50 percent of teaching and non-teaching staff will come to the institutes, keeping in mind the necessary Covid-19 SOPs. While all online modes of education will continue as per the prescribed format. Sikkim reported 148 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking its tally to 7,306, an official said. There are 934 active cases in the state at present.
