Sidhu Moose Wala murder: Oppn blasts Punjab govt for 'law and order collapse', AAP shirks blame

Opposition parties slammed the Punjab government over the “total collapse of law and order” while the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has denied all blame in the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
The murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala has set off a political slugfest in Punjab, with the Opposition flaying the government over the “total collapse of law and order” and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) denying all blame.
Moose Wala, who contested the Punjab assembly polls earlier this year on a Congress ticket, was killed by unidentified assailants who opened fire on his car in Jawaharke village in Mansa district on Sunday evening.
Taking aim at the Punjab government, Congress MP Manish Tewari listed a litany of alleged security slip-ups since the AAP came to power and called on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to ensure law and order is maintained in the border state.
“Since new govt was formed in Punjab there've been series of unfortunate incidents beginning with killing of some Kabaddi players, attack on Punjab Intelligence HQ in Mohali, attack on a police personnel in Jalandhar and now killing of Sidhu Moose Wala (sic),” Tewari tweeted on Monday.

Terming Moose Wala’s murder a “brutal assassination”, the Punjab Congress has sought a probe by the National Investigation Agency and a sitting judge into the incident. The party has also called for CM Bhagwant Mann to step down.
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said party colleague Moosewala’s death was a “political murder conceived and executed under a proper conspiracy.”
