Shashi Tharoor said based on a "quick reading of headlines and tweets", he had tweeted that PM Modi had "omitted to acknowledge Indira Gandhi's" role in the liberation of Bangladesh.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Saturday apologised for an incorrect reading of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech delivered on the occasion of Bangladesh's 50th National Day. In a tweet, Shashi Tharoor said he doesn't mind admitting when he is wrong. He said based on a "quick reading of headlines and tweets", he on Friday had tweeted that PM Modi had "omitted to acknowledge Indira Gandhi's" role in the liberation of Bangladesh.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
