Secunderabad Cantonment Board receives ₹14.54 crore from MoD to settle pending liabilities
The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) has received ₹14.54 crore as part of a one-time Grant-in-Aid (General) sanctioned by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the financial year 2025–26, to clear its pending liabilities.
The sanctioned amount issued by the Directorate General Defence Estates (DGDE) on Monday (March 2, 2026), is part of a larger allocation of ₹221.84 crore released to 48 deficit Cantonment Boards across the country. The order specifies that the grant is exclusively meant for liquidation of outstanding dues and cannot be diverted for any other purpose under any circumstances.
According to the sanction order, the funds are to be utilised strictly for clearing Pay Commission arrears, pensionary dues, Assured Career Progression dues, electricity charges and water supply charges. Payments must be made in accordance with approved working sheets, and Chief Executive Officers of the respective boards were directed to submit Action Taken Reports after the liabilities are settled.
In the case of Secunderabad Cantonment, which falls under the Southern Command, a total of ₹14,54,57,674 was released . The detailed statement attached to the order shows that ₹6.88 crore was earmarked towards Pay Commission arrears. Pensionary dues account for ₹1.72 crore, while ₹1.57 crore was allocated for Assured Career Progression dues. Electricity charges amount to ₹1.03 crore, and ₹6.97 crore, the largest share, was set aside for clearing water supply charges.
