Sanya Malhotra turns cop for Netflix dramedy film Kathal. Watch teaser

Sanya Malhotra has announced her upcoming film titled Kathal. In the Netflix dramedy, the actress will play the role of a cop.

Sanya Malhotra is on a roll! Her hands are full with back-to-back projects. The actress has now announced her upcoming film with Netflix titled Kathal. The woman-led dramedy is the directorial debut of Yashowardhan Mishra, who has also penned the film along with veteran writer Ashok Mishra. Anant Joshi will be seen alongside Sanya in the film, that went on floors earlier this week.

Sanya Malhotra, who recently turned 30, will be seen in Netflix's upcoming film titled Kathal. Set in a small town, Kathal revolves around a local politician whose prized jackfruits (kathals) go missing. A young police officer named Mahima, played by Sanya Malhotra, is adamant to solve this bizarre case to prove herself. The film is backed by producer Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms Ltd.

Sanya Malhotra’s latest film, Love Hostel, takes ‘love on the run’. Also starring Vikrant Massey and Bobby Deol, the gritty crime thriller is available for streaming on Zee5. She recently announced her next project - the Hindi remake of the hit Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen. It will be directed by Arati Kadav. Sanya will also be seen in Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur. She will play the role of Vicky’s wife, Silloo Manekshaw, while Fatima Sana Sheikh will essay the role of India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Sam Bahadur is directed by Meghna Gulzar.
