The Bishnoi gang allegedly demanded Rs 10 crore from Ranveer Singh through a threatening voice note sent from an American number. Mumbai Crime Branch has launched a preliminary enquiry into the case.
The Bishnoi gang allegedly demanded Rs 10 crore from Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, with the threat reportedly sent through a voice note from an American number.
According to Mumbai Police officials, the Crime Branch is investigating the matter and has initiated contact with relevant US authorities through official protocol to obtain details about the number used to send the message.
Preliminary findings suggest that a key Bishnoi gang associate, identified as Harry Boxer, allegedly sent the voice note to Ranveer Singh's manager, demanding Rs 10 crore as extortion. Investigators have indicated that the voice in the WhatsApp note matches that of Harry Boxer, though further evidence is being collected to substantiate the claim.
Crime Branch officials said the threat was sent shortly after the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence. The voice message was received on the manager's mobile number following that episode.
After the threat surfaced, security around Ranveer Singh was tightened. The Crime Branch has recorded the statement of his manager and continues to probe the case.
As of now, no FIR has been registered, but police have begun a preliminary enquiry into the matter.
