Swapnil Lonkar, 24 years of age, died by suicide at his home in Pune on Wednesday. He had been unable to secure a Maharashtra Public Service Commission job despite having passed the prelims exam.
Swapnil Lonkar, a resident of Hadapsar area of Pune, died by suicide at his home on Wednesday. The 24-year-old was preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations. He had cleared the prelims exam but had not yet secured a job as the process was postponed due to the pandemic. As per information provided by a senior police official in Hadapsar, Lonkar’s father owns a printing press in Shaniwar Peth area of Pune. Both parents went there on Wednesday for work, as they go every day. His sister too had gone out for some work that day.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
