RPF Assistance Kiosks launched at Puducherry and Chidambaram stations enhance passenger safety with easy access to support and complaint reporting.
In an attempt to strengthen passenger safety and security, the Railway Protection Force has extended the RPF Assistance Management System to two more railway stations – Puducherry and Chidambaram -- in Tiruchi Railway Division.
The RPF Assistance Management System is a touch-based digital kiosk installed at railway stations, enabling passengers to seek assistance, lodge complaints, and directly connect with RPF personnel.
The application software for the RPF Assistance Kiosk was developed with the assistance of three BCA students of St. Joseph’s College, Tiruch - Noel Sebu, Mariya Efron and Joe Rakesh.
The system was first tested at Tiruchi Railway Station, where it received positive feedback from the travelling public, and later introduced at Srirangam Railway Station where around 30 complaints related to theft, lost property, suspicious activities and harassment were addressed effectively on a real-time basis, according to railway officials.
The system has been developed to provide quick and easy access to assistance, particularly at important way-side railway stations where the presence of RPF/Government Railway Police personnel is minimal.
During the Republic Day parade, Balak Ram Negi, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, handed over the two RPF Assistance Kiosks to Prashant Yadav, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, for installation at Puducherry and Chidambaram railway stations, according to a press release from Tiruchi Railway Division.
