Rishabh Pant has shed light on how he was a little angry at Cheteshwar Pujara for costing him a hundred during the 2021 SCG Test against Australia.

The match will go down in history as one of the finest games in the history of the sport despite ending in a draw. Set a target of 407 runs to win, the efforts of Rohit Sharma, Pujara, Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari saved India from a certain loss and kept them alive in the series.

While many would remember Ashwin and Vihari's partnership, it was Pujara and Pant's 148-run stand for the fourth wicket that put India in a strong position. The Saurashtra batter was able to make 77 runs in 205 balls while Pant scored 97 runs.

In the latest docuseries, Bandon Mein Tha Dum, the Delhi Capitals skipper opened up on his dismissal during the SCG Test. Pant revealed that Pujara started to advice him to not go for big shots as he was reaching his hundred. However, this ended up confusing the wicketkeeper and played a role in him missing out on the milestone.

“‘Rishabhtry to stick. You can work in singles, doubles too. You don’t have to hit a boundary’," Pant recalled what Pujara told him during the innings.

“I got a little angry that they put me in this double-minded state. Because I like it when I’m very clear in my plans that this is what I want to do. We had built such a good momentum. In my mind the only thing at that time was ‘damn, what just happened?’ Because if I reached 100 there, it would have been one of my best," said Pant.

Ajinkya Rahane, who was the stand-in captain of the team at the time, confirmed Pant's claim.
