Retired BMTC employee Munikrishnappa killed by son over property dispute; investigation ongoing with multiple arrests.
A 70-year-old retired employee of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) who was allegedly clubbed to death by his son over a property dispute in Indiranagar, died on February 16, Monday.
The deceased, Munikrishnappa, reportedly had properties worth several crores and had frequent disputes with his children over the distribution of assets.
An initial probe revealed that Munikrishnappa had executed a will transferring some properties to his grandchildren, which is suspected to have intensified tensions within the family.
The incident occurred on Saturday (February 14) night. Munikrishnappa was walking his dog, when his son, Mohan Kumar, allegedly engaged in a violent confrontation. The accused is said to have attacked his father with a hockey stick and an iron rod, causing grievous injuries. Munikrishnappa reportedly collapsed due to heavy bleeding.
Local residents rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. However, he succumbed to his injuries despite treatment.
East Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Amte said a complaint by Divya — one of the daughters-in-law of the deceased — stated that Munikrishnappa had been assaulted while he was out walking his dog.
