Delhi court extends bail for Rau's IAS Study Circle CEO implicated in student drowning incident till January 31, 2025.
A Delhi court on Saturday (December 7, 2024) extended the interim bail of Abhishek Gupta, CEO and owner of Rau’s IAS Study Circle, till January 31, 2025. Three civil services aspirants at Rau’s had drowned after the institute’s basement was flooded with rainwater in July this year.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna of the Rouse Avenue court also extended the bail of Deshpal Singh, coordinator of the coaching institute till January 31.
The Delhi High Court had, in the past, given bail to four co-owners of the basement. Another court last week took cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case.
Commenting on the chargesheet, the court had said that Mr. Gupta and Mr. Singh were responsible for the day-to-day and overall functioning of the institute, and were also “aware that the basement could not have been used as a ‘library-cum-exam hall.”
It added that the accused allowed students to study in the basement for long hours even when they were aware that water used to collect there.
