One of the most popular stand-up comedians in India, Raju Srivastava passed away on September 21 after a long fight. He was 58 years old. He breathed his last at AIIMS, Delhi, where he was admitted after suffering a heart attack on August 10. Raju Srivastava was cremated on Thursday, September 22. Raju's family members - his wife Shikha, son Ayushman and daughter Antara - decided that the cremation will be held in Delhi. Earlier, they were contemplating taking Raju to Mumbai or Kanpur. The comedian was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat surrounded by his loved ones.
Raju Srivastava had suffered severe brain damage after the cardiac arrest, and had remained unconscious and under observation at AIIMS, Delhi since August 10. He passed away on September 21, and after a postmortem, he was cremated today. Raju Srivastava's brother-in-law had earlier confirmed that Raju's funeral will be held in Delhi. The comedian's body was taken to Dashratpuri near Dwarka, Delhi. His last rites were held in Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi, which is located on the banks of the Yamuna river coast.
