Doctors in Rajasthan staged protests on Wednesday and also called off medical services except emergencies after a gynecologist at a private hospital in Dausa allegedly died by suicide after being booked on murder charges in the death of a pregnant woman during childbirth.

It was when a pregnant woman died during childbirth at a private hospital run by Dr Archana and her husband, following which the family members of the deceased protested outside the hospital, demanding strict action against Dr Sharma, who was then booked on murder charges.
Stressed over the FIR, Sharma allegedly hanged herself to death on Tuesday. A suicide note purportedly written by Dr Sharma was also recovered in which she mentioned the harassment that she faced.
The Rajasthan chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Wednesday issued a notification calling for the discontinuation of medical services in the state for the next 24 hours. By blocking the road at Jaipur Statue circle, the doctors demanded the arrest of the culprits.
"IMA Rajasthan State calls upon 24 hours Medical Bandh and protest day on March 30 from 6 AM in the state against the incident that happened in Lalsot Dausa yesterday and the sad demise of Dr Archana Sharma”, read the IMA notification.
IMA secretary Sarvesh Joshi informed that all medical services are closed except emergencies.
Apart from the doctors of the private hospital in Jaipur, the doctors at the government hospital also demonstrated outside the Sawaiman Singh Hospital.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
