Posters put up to welcome Rahul Gandhi in Karnataka as he leads the Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra were vandalised in the state's Gundlupet area.

The Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is scheduled to enter its Karnataka leg through Chamarajanagar district on September 30. Ahead of the party yatra’s arrival in the state, posters put up to welcome Rahul Gandhi were vandalised in the state’s Gundlupet area.

In Karnataka, the Bharat Jodo Yatra will be vital for Congress leaders fighting against the ruling BJP. Talking to India Today, political analyst Sandeep Shastri said, “The yatra is a Congress movement to reassert its presence nationally and in Karnataka. They have a straight fight with the BJP. It became even more critical for the Karnataka Congress. The yatra is vital for the state as it will help cement Congress’s reputation as a formidable Opposition.”

The yatra is also an opportunity for former chief minister and leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar to prove their mettle to Rahul Gandhi.
