
Punjab Police seizes 16 kg heroin from Gurdaspur, flags consignment route from Jammu

The Punjab Police has seized 16kg of heroin from Gurdaspur. It said that drugs found their way into the state from Jammu.
The Punjab Police on Saturday said that Jammu has emerged as the new route for transit of drugs to the state. The statement comes after the cops seized 16 kg of heroin from Gurdaspur district.
"The investigations into the 16kg heroin recovery from Gurdaspur revealed that arrested persons have used National Highway [connecting Jammu to Punjab] to bring this consignment from Jammu by concealing it in a specially designed compartment in two cars," said Mohnish Chawla, IG Border Range, while addressing a virtual press conference.

The accused have been identified as Manjinder Singh (28), Gurdit Singh (35), Bhola Singh (32), and Kuldeep Singh. The police have also impounded both cars. A case has been registered under sections 21C, 27A, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) act.
The Punjab Police also said they have also booked the kingpin of the module, identified as Malkit Singh, who had sent his four aides to Jammu to retrieve this consignment.
