Punjab Health Minister Vijay Singla has been removed from the cabinet over corruption charges.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said he removed Health Minister Vijay Singla from the state cabinet on charges of corruption.
"I'm taking strict action against that minister, sacking him from the cabinet and directing the police to register a case against him. That Minister is Vijay Singla. He had indulged in corruption in his department and also confessed to it. The AAP has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption," Mann said.
Bhagwant Mann said he took the decision after learning that the minister was allegedly demanding one per cent commission for tenders. Mann further claimed that Singla had admitted to wrongdoings.
“I am taking strict action against the minister. I am removing him from the cabinet,” the chief minister said in a video message.
Police have been directed to register a case against him.
