Puneeth Rajkumar to be honoured posthumously with Karnataka Ratna on Nov 1, announces CM Bommai

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, will be conferred with Karnataka Ratna posthumously, on November 1. He will be honoured with the award on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava, the state's formation day.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday, August 5, announced that late Kannada film star Puneeth Rajkumar, will be conferred with Karnataka Ratna posthumously on Kannada Rajyotsava, November 1. He was speaking at the annual Independence Day flower show at Lalbagh's Glass House in Bengaluru. At the event, there was a special floral tribute paid to Puneeth and his father, Dr Rajkumar.
Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar passed away on October 29 after suffering a heart attack. According to a report in PTI, speaking at the flower show, CM B Bommai said, "We have decided to confer Karnataka Ratna award to Puneeth Rajkumar on November 1, we will be forming a committee consisting of Rajkumar family members to prepare for it, it will be conferred with full honour."
Puneeth Rajkumar will be the 10th recipient of the Karnataka Ratna, which is the state's highest civilian honour.
Prahlad Joshi, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, took to Twitter to announce the same. He shared a tweet in Kannada that roughly translates to, "Karnataka state government has announced "Karnataka Ratna" award to Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar, who was the best actor in the state, who was a light for many people socially, and will be honored with the award on November 1. Thanks to Chief Minister Shri @BSBommai who honored the actor by announcing the state's best award."
