Sawapan Dasgupta had resigned from the Rajya Sabha and unsuccessfully contested the West Bengal Assembly election on a BJP ticket. He has been renominated to the Rajya Sabha.
President Ram Nath Kovind has renominated former journalist Swapan Dasgupta to the Rajya Sabha. A notification in this regard has been issued by the central government. In the run-up to the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election, Swapan Dasgupta had resigned from the Rajya Sabha and contested on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket from the Tarakeswar constituency.
