Prashant Kishor has revealed that his strategy for the Congress party’s revival, the much-touted 600-slide presentation, was not about defeating Narendra Modi, but detailed how to win India.
The hubbub surrounding poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s split with the Congress refuses to die down. The two sides had been engaged in a weeks-long dance of presentations, meetings and deliberations over how to revamp the grand old party ahead of the 2024 assembly elections. What was considered a done deal fell apart when Kishor declined to join the Congress.
Now, in an interview to the BBC, Prashant Kishor has revealed that his strategy for the Congress party’s revival, the much-touted 600-slide presentation, was not about defeating Narendra Modi, but detailed how to win India.
"My blueprint was all about how the Congress should regain its glory days. It wasn't about winning one or two elections. It was to help the Congress resurrect itself as a strong political force in the country," he said.

“It is not about how to defeat Modi, it is about how to win India. There is a fine but important difference between the two. The basis of the presentation was not about how to defeat the BJP or to win a particular state election,” he explained.
The poll strategist, dubbed the ‘kingmaker’ by many observers, said that while the BJP would remain in a strong position for some time to come, they were not invincible. Moreover, a resurgent Congress would be good for democracy, he added.
Acknowledging that there were some differences with Congress leaders, Kishor said there were also many points that they agreed on and decided would be good for the party’s fortunes if implemented. Discussions were held and a strategy was agreed on.
