Poor network connectivity forces Mizoram village students to trek miles for attending online classes
India Today
With universities taking the online exam route, and the government's decision to shut all the schools, amid Covid-19 surge, students in remote villages including Mawhrei village and Siaha district in Mizoram have been forced to take their online classes on a hilltop inside a forest area due to poor network connectivity in their locality.
For the second year in a row, lack of internet connectivity has become a long-standing challenge for the students of Mawhrei village as they will once again have to uphill trek through dense forest for about 3 to 4 km in order to attend online classes.
Notably, the Mizoram government has closed all schools for the students of Class 1 to 11 along with colleges and universities, amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state.
