Salem Collector mandates political parties to submit campaign applications 48 hours in advance for compliance with election rules.
District Collector R. Brindha Devi on Monday said that political parties or their representatives should apply 48 hours prior online for campaigning, setting up temporary party offices, rallies, or conducting campaign meetings.
The Collector held a meeting with the recognised political party representatives at the Collectorate regarding the rules to be followed during election campaigning in the district. Later, talking to reporters the Collector said political party representatives were told about the rules to be followed by the candidates and leaders regarding meetings, rallies, ban on using government vehicles, usage of speakers, flags, temporary campaign offices, misusing SMS in election campaigns, bans on using names, symbols, and badges, and raising slogans at polling booths.
Stating that candidates should open separate bank accounts, Ms. Devi said that for getting permission for election campaigns, rallies, temporary party offices, and campaigning vehicles, petitions should be submitted 48 hours prior at the https://suvidha.eci.gov.in website. All political parties should follow the norms provided by the Election Commission and extend their cooperation to conduct the elections peacefully, the Collector added.
District Revenue Officer R. Ravikumar and officials participated.
