York police say they will provide an update Wednesday afternoon on a homicide investigation related to a home invasion in Vaughan, Ont., in which a man was allegedly shot dead in front of his children.
In the early hours of Aug. 31, officers responded to a call about a home invasion at a home near Andreeta Drive and Barons Street. They found 46-year-old Abdul Aleem Farooqi suffering from "trauma to his body," according to a previous news release. He was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts.
Police said at the time they were looking for at least three suspects. Though police did not confirm how Farooqi died, political leaders and close friends have said he was shot in front of his children.
York police said Wednesday they will provide an update on the investigation at 2 p.m. ET.
