Uttar Pradesh police file FIR against three for forcing student to urinate on Pakistan flag in Aligarh.
Uttar Pradesh police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against three persons for allegedly forcing a student hailing from the minority community in Aligarh to urinate on the Pakistan flag.
It comes against the backdrop of a purported video circulating on social media showing a mob abusing the boy and coercing him into urinating on the flag lying on a road.
“On April 28, the 15-year-old boy with a group of four students was returning from his school when they saw the flag lying on the road. The boy in hobbledehoyhood got hold of the flag. Seeing this, the mob surrounded him, hurled abuses and coerced him into urinating on the flag. We have registered a case on a complaint of a local against three people. The probe is under way,” Pankaj Mishra, SHO Banna Devi police station, told The Hindu.
Reacting to the incident, Shahnawaz Alam, Congress national secretary, alleged, “After the Pahalgam incident, an environment against Muslims is being created by a section affiliated to the ruling BJP through such incidents. It is an alarming video, but the incident is not isolated. The administration must act decisively to prevent any attempts to disrupt peace in society.”
