Police finds pangolin on Noida street, hands it over to forest department

Noida Police on Saturday handed over a pangolin to the forest department. The animal, which was found roaming on the street, was initially disturbed by passersby before officials from Noida Phase 3 police station took it under their control. The Indian pangolin is a solitary, shy and slow-moving mammal. It is protected under Schedule I of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The animal, which is also listed under the Appendix I of the International Convention of Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), is rarely seen nowadays.
