The Jirapur civic body demolished houses of people who allegedly threw stones at the marriage procession of a Dalit man in Madhya Pradesh. More houses of the accused will be razed today in Jirapur.
The Jirapur Municipal Corporation demolished houses of people who allegedly threw stones at the marriage procession of a Dalit man in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. The civic body authorities demolished eight houses in Jirapur's ward no 4 today afternoon and more properties will be razed.
Jirapur Tehsildar Ashwin Ram Chiraman said, "21 people were involved in Tuesday night's incident and we have identified 18 houses. We have initiated action against encroached land. These people threw stones at the marriage procession of a Dalit Man. The houses of 18 accused were marked for demolition and action would be taken."
On Tuesday, a group of people from a particular community allegedly threw stones at the marriage procession of a Dalit man in Rajgarh when it was passing outside a mosque at around 11:30 pm in the night.
The accused also hurled abuse and thrashed the drum players, in which four people sustained grievous injuries. Police had arrested six people in connection with the accident.
Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh condemned the incident and said that the houses of those who are innocent are also being razed, which is not correct.
