
People’s convention on Mullaperiyar issue held

Congress leader T.J. Vinod criticizes State government's apathy towards Mullaperiyar dam issue, urges for public concerns to be addressed.
Congress leader and MLA T.J. Vinod on September 1 (Sunday) criticised what he called the apathetic attitude of the State government towards the Mullaperiyar dam issue and said that the stand of the government should be condemned.
Inaugurating a people’s convention on the Mullaperiyar issue organised by the Indian Human Rights Movement, he urged the government to address public concerns and find a permanent solution. He added that a political decision was crucial to ensure the safety of the public.
Prof. P.C. Roy, who is leading the agitations, made a presentation on the issue. Felix J. Pulludan, president of the organisation, presided.

On December 23, the newly elected office bearers of the Anna Nagar Towers Club, led by its president ‘Purasai’ B. Ranganathan, who is a former MLA, met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and conveyed their greetings. According to a press release, besides, ‘Purasai’ B. Ranganathan, the Anna Nagar Towers Club delegation that met Stalin at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK Party headquarters, included vice-president R. Sivakumar, secretary R. Muralibabu, joint secretary D. Manojkumar, treasurer K. Jayachandran and executive committee members N. D. Avinash, K. Kumar, N. R. Madhurakavi, K. Mohan, U. Niranjan, S. Parthasarathi, K. Rajasekar, S. Rajasekar, M. S. Ramesh, R. Satheesh, N. C. Venkatesan and K. Yuvaraj. Karthik Mohan, deputy secretary of DMK’s Information Technology Wing, was present on the occasion.
