Due to exorbitant prices of basic commodities, the love for puris seems to be diminishing in Pakistan. People are giving up the popular street food as the price hike for the simple snack is unbelievable for many.
Puri sabzi or puri halwa is the comfort food for many. And things are not that different in our neighbouring country, Pakistan. People thoroughly enjoy this scrumptious and mouth-watering snack and it is something you can literally have whenever you wish.
However, due to exorbitant prices of basic commodities, the love for puris seems to be diminishing in Pakistan. People are giving up the popular street food as the price hike for the simple snack is unbelievable for many.
According to Mohammad Javed Abbasi, a roadside eatery manager, “Inflation has definitely caused a difference in our business. It has caused a difference for everyone. The number of our customers has decreased, the amount of people consuming halwa puri is also much fewer.”

Higher prices reflect higher costs for puri makers from wheat flour and oil to electricity, explains the report by Reuters.
