
Over 1,000 beds added in private hospitals as Delhi reports surge in Covid-19 cases: Health Minister

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday said 230 more ICU beds and 842 non-ICU have been added in 33 private hospitals to treat coronavirus patients on the directions of the AAP government.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday said 230 more ICU beds and 842 non-ICU have been added in 33 private hospitals to treat coronavirus patients on the directions of the (Aam Aadmi Party) AAP government. "We are in a comfortable position (in terms of number of beds available). Overall, only 25 per cent of the beds for coronavirus patients in government and private hospitals are occupied. A few private hospitals have all ICU beds full. So, necessary orders were issued by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday," Jain said. In view of a slight rise in coronavirus cases in the capital, the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government on Tuesday had issued orders to Delhi hospitals to increase the number of beds.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
