The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Telangana till May 2. The maximum temperatures are expected to be around 42°C - 47°C.
A Yellow alert has been issued by the IMD in the state for May 3 and 4.
The IMD uses four colour codes for weather warnings. Green means no action is needed, yellow refers to watch and stay updated, orange means be prepared and red alert means take action.
Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated pockets in Adilabad, KomaramBheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad,Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar and Peddapally districts of Telangana.The state will witness heat wave conditions till May 2. The IMD also predicts thunderstorms accompanied with lighting to occur at isolated places in a few districts of Telangana for the next five days.
IMD says that the heat is tolerable for the general public but there is moderate health concern for vulnerable people such as infants, elderly, people with chronic diseases.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
