“It is the home minister who is in charge of the official languages department and it is his duty and it is not the PM’s to speak about this issue,” said Narayanan Thirupathy.
This statement comes after DMK spokesperson RS Bharati hit out against Amit Shah and said, “It was the union minister who had started the language debate again and Prime Minister Modi should hold him responsible.”
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that regional languages were a reflection of India.
Adding to this, Narayanan Thirupathy said, “He (PM Modi) has always been a person who praises Tamil, the oldest language in the world. The RSS also, since 1925, has been saying that children should learn in their mother tongue.”
The BJP spokesperson stated that people who want to divide the public are provoking people with the language debate and that this is being done in the lust for power.
“Languages are worshipped. The opposition just wants to provoke and divide people,” said the BJP spokesperson.
