
Oh s***: Crew's last words before Ajit Pawar's plane crashed, say sources

A senior DGCA official privy to the Baramati plane crash confirmed that the final words from the crew were "Oh S***…" and added that the aircraft, which crashed significantly short of the runway but within the airstrip perimeter.
A senior DGCA official on Thursday told India Today that the last words from the pilot of the ill-fated business jet, which crashed on Wednesday killing five people, including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, were “Oh S***”. The official explained that the aircraft went down short of the runway but remained within the airport’s airstrip perimeter.
According to the sources, ground control at Baramati is managed by pilot cadets from the town’s two private aviation academies, Redbird Aviation and Carver Aviation, who were in contact with the flight at the time.
Detailing the chain of events, the officials said, “The final words heard from the crew were ‘Oh Shit’. The plane crashed significantly short of the runway threshold but well within the airstrip perimeter.”
The Learjet 45, registered VT-SSK and flying in from Mumbai, lost control during its descent on Baramati Airport’s runway. The facility, lacking advanced landing aids, was reportedly the site of a botched landing attempt as the aircraft tried a second approach, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.
Eyewitnesses described a horrific scene and said that the aircraft burst into flames upon impact in a nearby field, with four to five explosions rocking the site. Among the victims were the Deputy Chief Minister, two crew members, and two security personnel.
