Odisha artist Arun Sahu carved two copies of the Hindu holy book Hanuman Chalisa in wood. He wants to gift them to PM Narendra Modi and CM Naveen Patnaik.
Arun Sahu of Odisha’s Kantei Koli village in Ganjam district has carved two copies of Hindu holy book, Hanuman Chalisa, in wood. Sahu has been working in wood carving for the last 10 years. Earlier, he had also made sculptures of the Taj Mahal, India Gate, Gateway of India and Eiffel Tower. Speaking to indiatoday.in, Arun Sahu said, “During lockdown, I thought I should make something different and creating Hanuman Chalisa in Hindi came to my mind.” Arun wants to gift the books to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Arun Sahu’s father, Bhaskar Sahu, is a carpenter by profession, who makes wooden furniture for a living. Arun dropped out of college and joined his father and started helping him in running the family business. It was under his guidance that Arun learnt how to make the wood carvings.
