
NortonLifeLock, Avast announce merger for over $8 billion

In a major move in the world of cybersecurity, two majors - NortonLifeLock and Avast, have announced a merger. The resulting conglomerate is expected to be one of the biggest entity in consumer cybersecurity segment.
Cybersecurity major NortonLifeLock is set to buy rival Avast. The deal has been announced by the two giants on Wednesday and will involve an amount of over $8 billion (~Rs. 59,560 crore). With this, the two companies will work together towards expanding their cybersecurity consumer business. Boards of NortonLifeLock and Avast believe that the merger will bring substantial strategic and financial benefits to the firms. For starters, it will create a new, industry-leading consumer Cyber Safety business based on the established technology and brands value of both majors.
Meta has hired the team behind the agentic AI startup Dreamer. The startup was founded by former Google executives Hugo Barra, David Singleton, and Nicholas Jitkoff, who will now work on Meta's agentic AI plans. This announcement comes after Mark Zuckerberg acquired the AI social media platform Moltbook to bolster agentic AI development.

OpenAI is offering big incentives to private equity firms in a bid to raise more funds. The ChatGPT-maker is offering a minimum return rate of 17.5 per cent, as well as early access to its new AI models.
