During Dhanurmasam festival at Tirumala temple, Tiruppavai Pasurams will replace the traditional Suprabhata Seva from December 17 to January 14.
In a significant tradition marking the Dhanurmasam festival, the customary Suprabhata Seva, the daily pre-dawn ritual performed to awaken the presiding deity of the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala, will be temporarily replaced with the recitation of Tiruppavai Pasurams.
The change will take effect from December 17, 2024 following the commencement of the Dhanurmasam on December 16, and will continue until January 14, 2025.
Composed by Andal Sri Goda Devi, the Tiruppavai Pasurams are a collection of 30 sacred hymns celebrated in the Sri Vaishnava tradition.
During the Dhanurmasam, one Pasuram will be recited inside the temple every day. This ritual is practised in Sri Vaishnavite temples during the Dhanurmasam.
Besides this, the idol of Lord Sri Krishna will be worshipped on a swing, replacing the usual presence of Bhoga Srinivasa Murty during the Ekantha Seva in the nights.
