No proposal yet to release caste census data of 2011: Govt tells Rajya Sabha

The Centre on Wednesday told Rajya Sabha that there is no proposal yet to release the report on caste census, Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC), that was carried out in 2011.

The Centre on Wednesday told Rajya Sabha that there is no proposal yet to release the report on caste census, Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC), that was carried out in 2011. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, MoS for Home, Nityanand Rai said the raw caste data has been provided to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment but there is no proposal to release it at present. "The raw caste data has been provided to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) for classification and categorisation of the data. As informed by MoSJE, there is no proposal to release the caste data at this stage," Rai said in reply to a question.
