
No decision yet on closure of universities: Karnataka CM

Former higher education minister C. N. Ashwath Narayana, who wanted to initiate a debate on the government’s move on closure of universities, and said closure of universities would lead to denial of opportunities for students to undertake higher studies.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told the Legislative Assembly that the government of Karnataka will take a decision on the closure or continuation of seven universities, established during the previous BJP government, based on the findings of the sub-committee of the State Cabinet.
The Chief Minister said no decision has been taken yet on the closure of universities. A decision would be taken after the panel submits its report to the State Cabinet. Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar is heading the panel.
