In a move aimed at enhancing student safety during the late-night hours, IIT Kharagpur has issued a fresh advisory requiring students to share details of their movement when stepping out of the campus at night.
The new measures also mandate informing parents or guardians whenever a student exits the campus between 10 pm and 6 am.
Under the revised guidelines, students leaving the campus during late hours will be required to provide their destination, purpose of visit, and expected time of return. Upon coming back, students must also record their arrival at the campus.
The institute has clarified that the long-standing rule requiring students to carry their institute identity cards while leaving campus will now be strictly enforced. Any violation of these directives may lead to disciplinary action.
A key feature of the advisory is the decision to keep guardians informed about late-night campus exits.
Authorities said this step is meant to ensure transparency and enable quicker response in case of emergencies or unforeseen situations outside the campus.
