On Monday, Feb. 23, Nick Reiner gave a not guilty plea in a Los Angeles court in the murder of his parents Rob and Michele Reiner.
LOS ANGELES − Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Rob and Michele Reiner, pleaded not guilty in court Monday to the murder of his parents.
Looking gaunt, Reiner appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, Feb. 23, in a brown jail-issued jumpsuit, with his hair buzz-cut and grey-speckled facial hair stubble. Sitting in a separate glassed-off area, Reiner conferred with his lawyer, Kimberly Green, a public defender assigned to the case after Reiner's original counsel, Alan Jackson, stepped down last month due to "circumstances beyond his control."
Greene entered the not guilty plea on Reiner's behalf during the hearing. Reiner, whose demeanor in court was quiet, if not confident, said one word in the perfunctory arraignment hearing.
When Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Theresa R. McGonigle asked if he understood the proceedings, Reiner answered "Yes" in a clear, full-throated manner.
The next hearing is set for April 29.
