
NIA court sentences Pak terrorist to 10 years in prison for plotting terror attacks in India

A Pakistani terrorist has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a special NIA court in New Delhi for planning to carry out several terror attacks in India.
A special NIA court in New Delhi last week sentenced a Pakistani terrorist affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for planning to carry out terror attacks in India, the National Investigation Agency said in a statement on Wednesday. The court found the Pakistani terrorist guilty under various sections of the UAPA, Arms Act, Explosives Act and others. The verdict was announced on March 26. The convicted LeT terrorist, Bahadur Ali - aka Saifullah Mansoor, was arrested in the Kupawara district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in July 2016 with a large cache of arms and ammunitions. In the subsequent interrogation, he revealed a larger conspiracy hatched by the LeT to carry out multiple terror attacks in India, the NIA said.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
