The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted searches at multiple locations in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in connection with the Praveen Nettaru murder case and recovered digital devices and incriminating documents belonging to the suspects, who are on the run.

The searches were carried out on the premises linked to the absconding accused, suspects and their associates. The NIA has been investigating since August 2022 after taking over the probe from the Ballari police.
As many as 19 people have so far been arrested in this case and chargesheets have been filed by NIA against 23 people, including four absconding accused.
Non-bailable warrants have been issued and rewards announced on the seven absconding accused who are on the run.
Praveen Nettaru, BJP Yuva Morcha’s Dakshina Kannada district secretary, was hacked to death on July, 26, 2022 by members of the banned Popular Front of India. The murder was aimed at instilling fear among a specific section of society, the NIA release added.
