
NCPCR team reaches Thanjavur to probe minor girl’s suicide

The NCPCR team will visit Thanjavur and conduct an enquiry with the district SP, education officials, doctors, school authorities, classmates and the student’s parents.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) team reached Thanjavur to probe the minor girl’s suicide case. The matter was taken up by the central team after the state unit of the NCPRC said that the TN government was not helping with the probe.
An enquiry is scheduled to be conducted along with the District Superintendent of Police (SP), the investigation officer, the district education officials and the doctor who conducted the postmortem.
Post a four hour enquiry, the NCPCR will visit the school premises and interact with classmates and school authorities.
The team will then meet with the student’s parents before departing for Madurai later today.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
