NCP hits out at Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde over letter to governor, calls it ‘unconstitutional’

NCP spokesperson Mahesh Tapase hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for writing a letter to the governor demanding the withdrawal of MVA's list of nominations for the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC).
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Mumbai hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday for writing a letter to the governor. In the letter, Shinde asked him to withdraw the 12 names that were put forward by Uddhav Thackeray to be nominated to the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC).
The twelve nominations were to be made under the governor’s quota. On Saturday, Eknath Shinde wrote to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and requested that the list suggested by his predecessor Uddhav Thackeray shouldn’t be accepted.
Angered by the move, the NCP made a scathing remark about the state government, terming the move as unconstitutional.

Mahesh Tapase, the chief spokesperson of the NCP, said that the constitutional validity of the Shinde Government is in question and it is still awaiting the Supreme Court’s final verdict.
“The Shinde cabinet seems to be driven by a sole agenda to override earlier decisions taken by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MHA) government out of sheer vengeance. The recommendation to cancel names for the Maharashtra Legislative Council sent by the previous MVA Government is a bait to lure more leaders into the BJP-Shinde camp,” said Tapase.
The NCP spokesperson also said that the sentiments of the electorate in Maharashtra is fast turning against the BJP-Shinde Govt.
